Lord of the Flies Part 1 Answers

*Suspend your rationale thinkiong for a moment, and imagine that the place you all know best involving established authority-school- is suddenly without teachers, Ms. Nadeau, etc. for an extended period of time (think weeks) What would happen?
If Nokomis was without authority for more then one week it would no longer be a civilized high school. I think the first few days students would enjoy the freedom of not having teachers around but after a week or so I think students would start to get comfortable and rebel. People would begin to break off into their "clicks". The troublemakers would begin to do whatever they want and the good students who do care about school would eventually get sick of it and not show up to school or would try to over rule the troublemakers and fix it. Us as students are still very immature and are not capable of handling situations like these. That is why adults are usually put in charge of big situations because they are more mature and know how to handle a stressful situation properly.

*On page 70, Golding writes that Ralph "...wanted to explain that people were never quite what you thought they were." Write about this, both in the contexxt of the book and its characters as well as your own experiences in life.
In Lord of the Flies, we learn that Jack and Ralph do not work well together as leaders and end up causing a lot of trouble between the boys. Jack, who was suppose to be leading with Ralph, ended up doing things the way he wanted and didn't listen to what Ralph said. Throughout the book we learn that Jack is a bit of a bully also for teasing Piggy and for beating up on the other boys. In life you will meet several people who will turn out to be who you didn't expect them to be. I have met many people and have lost several friends because they turned out to be someone I didn't want having around me. They may seem fine at first but eventually their true colors will come through and you will see who they really are as a person.
